Privacy Policy

Shutter Speed ("the app"), operated by Shutter Speed Platforms, LLC, is built so most tools work entirely on your device. This policy explains what data the app touches and why.
What the app does not do
No analytics, crash reporting, or tracking of any kind. No advertising.
Accounts
Location Planner requires an optional Shutter Speed account (email and password). We store your name, email, and password hash, plus the location pins you save in Location Planner: name, coordinates, Google Place ID, optional formatted address, street number, street, unit, city, state, country, zip code, optional notes, list membership, and any photos you attach. Photos are stored in Amazon S3. If you sign in, we also store the same settings blob Backup & Restore exports (appearance, units, favorites, custom profiles, saved locations, and last-used tool values) so those can return on other devices. Account data is used only to sign you in and to sync that data to your account. Location Planner is the only tool that requires an account. Other tools still work signed out, and their settings stay on your device until you sign in.
Location
The app requests your device's location, when in use, solely to calculate sunrise/sunset, twilight times, and other sky-position tools for your current location, and to center Location Planner when you ask it to. Those live GPS readings are not stored on our servers. If you save a pin in Location Planner while signed in, that saved place is stored with your account so it can come back on other devices. You can deny or revoke the device location permission at any time in your device's Settings; the app's location-dependent tools will simply be unavailable until you grant it again.
Photos
Location Planner can attach photos you take or pick from your library to a saved pin. Those photos are uploaded to our servers (Amazon S3) and stored with your account so they can come back on other devices. You can deny camera or photo-library access in your device's Settings; the rest of the app keeps working, you just cannot add photos.
Third-party services
Location Planner uses Google Maps and Google Places to search for places, show the map, and open directions in the Google Maps app. Photos you attach are stored with Amazon S3. We do not sell this data.
Data stored on your device
The app saves your settings, preferences, and the values you've entered into its tools (e.g. a saved custom location, your last-used values in a calculator) using standard on-device storage. If you are signed in, that same settings blob is also stored with your account so it can return on other devices. This data is deleted from the device if you delete the app.
Backup & Restore (export/import)
The app includes an optional feature to export your settings to a JSON file and later import them back. This file is created and saved only where you choose to save it, using your device's normal share/file-save options, and is only read back in if you explicitly choose to import a file. The developer never receives, stores, or has access to this file. Where you save it and whether you share it with anyone is entirely up to you.
Clipboard
Several tools let you copy a result to your clipboard (e.g. "Copy" buttons on calculation results). This uses your device's standard clipboard and does not involve any data leaving your device.
Children's privacy
The app is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from children.
Your rights
On-device settings are deleted if you delete the app or clear its data in your device's settings. Location Planner pins, photos, lists, notes, signed-in settings, and account data live on our servers. To delete your account and its saved data, sign in and use Delete Account in the app's Settings. This deletes your account immediately and cannot be undone. If you need help, you can also reach us at info@shutter-speed.org.
Changes to this policy
If this app's data practices change (for example, if a future feature adds a new permission or service), this policy will be updated and the "Last updated" date above will reflect that.
