Weather

What it does

Shows a live weather readout for your location, plus short shooting-condition tags for photographers.

What you need

A location and a network connection. Without a location, the screen asks you to set one in Settings. While data loads the readouts show "Loading…", and if the weather service cannot be reached they show "Unavailable". Tap the info icon on the Weather card to see the data provider and its credit link.

How to use it

1. Set your location.
2. Read the Weather card for current conditions.
3. Read Shooting Conditions for the photography summary.

Reading the results

The top of the Weather card shows an icon, the temperature, the condition, and "Feels like". Below it:

• Humidity, Dew Point, Wind (with direction), Gusts
• Pressure, in the pressure unit you chose in the app
• Cloud Cover, Chance of Rain, Precipitation, Visibility
• UV Index, with its category
• Air Quality, with its category. Some weather providers do not supply it, in which case the row is left out.

Temperature, wind, precipitation, and visibility follow your Imperial or Metric setting.

Shooting Conditions tags:

• Lens Fog Risk: Low, Moderate, or High, based on how close the air temperature is to the dew point. High means the two are within 4°F.
• Light Quality: Clear skies (warm directional light), Partly cloudy (mixed light), or Overcast (soft flat light), from cloud cover. Up to 30% counts as clear, up to 70% as partly cloudy.
• Wind Conditions: a Beaufort scale force number, its name, and a short description of the wind's effects.

Tips

• Light Quality is a practical judgment, not a measurement.
